Hebbevu: Building a Complete Ecosystem Beyond Just Farmland Ownership

In a world increasingly disconnected from the soil, two brothers from Bengaluru left behind comfortable careers in banking to reconnect with their roots. In 2016, they entered the world of agriculture, driven not by prior experience but by curiosity, purpose, and a desire to build something meaningful. That decision marked the beginning of Hebbevu, a pioneering venture that has since redefined the concept of sustainable, managed farmlands in India.
Between 2016 and 2019, the brothers spent years learning about handling farmlands without any formal training. They dived deep into soil science, experimented with natural farming methods, and studied what worked best on the ground. During this time, they observed a troubling market trend: managed farmlands were being sold for as much as ₹80 lakh per acre, often without transparency or genuine agricultural value.
To bridge this gap, they founded Hebbevu, built on ethical practices and fair pricing. They offered land at ₹18 lakh per acre, supported by zero-budget natural farming. By relying on resources from the farm itself, cow dung, crop residue, and traditional methods, they created a self-sustaining model that required no external maintenance, redefining affordability and integrity in the farmland sector.
Hebbevu is where tradition meets innovation, cultivating not just crops, but a sustainable future rooted in ethics and purpose
Farm Fresh Retail Expansion
The company stands out for building a complete ecosystem rather than just a business. They go beyond selling farmland by adding value across the entire agricultural chain. Hebbevu Fresh, its retail and online store, offers grains, pulses, vegetables, and fruits directly to customers through platforms like Amazon, Flipkart, Blinkit, and soon Zepto. Another major initiative is Hebbevu Farm Fresh Milk, which supplies natural milk to over 3,000 households daily. To improve dairy quality, they launched Hebbevu Genetics, setting a national record with 80 embryo transfers in one day, helping local farmers upgrade their cattle.
The elements that truly set Hebbevu apart in India’s managed farmland space are its end-to-end service. Buyers receive not just land, but 15 years of professional management - covering plantation, harvesting, marketing, and profit-sharing. A strong in-house team ensures each farm operates efficiently and in harmony with sustainable farming practices.
Moreover, before launching any project, Hebbevu follows a strict due diligence process. Each site goes through double legal verification and thorough soil and water testing. Only after meeting all criteria does development begin, ensuring buyers get land that is both legally clear and agriculturally productive. “Our company promotes integrated and diversified farming instead of focusing only on timber.
We grow a balanced mix of timber, fruits, coconut trees, and local cash crops suited to the region. Seasonal crops with 100–250-day cycles also generate steady income, which is shared with customers, a model that has run successfully for over six years,” says Amith Kishan, the Managing Director of Hebbevu.
Smart Irrigation and Efficiency
Sustainability is at the heart of Hebbevu’s operations. With over 1,400 native cattle, the farms produce abundant gomutra and cow dung, used to prepare traditional organic formulations like Jeeva Amrutha and Panchagavya.
These inputs boost soil health naturally and remove dependence on chemicals. Technology also plays a major role. Automated irrigation systems, controlled via mobile apps, allow the scheduled operation of pumps and other equipment, reducing manual work and improving efficiency.
This seamless blend of traditional practices and modern agri-tech leads to effective farm management. Backed by a strong team, the company makes strategic crop choices based on soil compatibility and market demand. This market-smart approach ensures high productivity and profitability, helping the company stay agile in a constantly evolving agricultural sector.
Since 2019, Hebbevu has managed over 1,000 acres of farmland and worked with around 500 to 600 customers. One standout success story involved a customer who purchased an acre for ₹18 lakh in 2019. By 2024, they have helped resell that same land for ₹56 lakh, highlighting both the appreciation in asset value and the company’s role in facilitating it. In other cases, the company has offered buy-back support to customers who needed to exit, often repurchasing land at market or purchase price, depending on the situation.
While Hebbevu has received numerous awards and media recognitions, the focus remains on meaningful impact. Recognition such as the ‘Startup of the Year’ award during the COVID-19 pandemic from the Indian Economic Research Development Authority (IERDA) is particularly valued, as it reflects the company’s alignment with sustainability and innovation.
Purpose-Driven Agricultural Movement
Looking to the future, Hebbevu has ambitious plans to scale. From managing 1,000 acres, the goal is to expand to 10,000 acres across India. The company also aims to increase its retail footprint through Hebbevu Fresh outlets, both online and offline, delivering clean, ethically grown produce to more households. This company is more than just a farmland provider.
It is a movement that blends tradition with innovation, rooted values with modern efficiency. In an era where agriculture is often driven by short-term gain, this company offers a long-term, purposedriven alternative, nurturing not just the land but also the livelihoods and legacies connected to it.
In conclusion, Hebbevu is redefining sustainable farming in India by blending traditional practices with modern technology. With a strong ethical foundation, end-to-end services, and a commitment to soil, farmers, and consumers alike, it stands as a purpose-driven model, proving that agriculture can be both profitable and deeply rooted in long-term impact.
