Despite being among the world’s fastest growing economies today, India still lags in terms of healthcare accessibility, mainly due to humongous population that it is home to and the vast geographical area that it comprises of. Thus, we’re seeing a lot of focus lately by private and public sectors to develop healthcare infrastructure country wide and ensure that every individual gets easy access to quality care. As a result, we’re witnessing a heightened demand for healthcare architecture design firms in recent times. Among the plethora of companies that are currently operating in this dynamic sector, one organization that stands a notch higher due to its vast industry experience is Designovate Studio. Based in Bengaluru, Designovate Studio was founded in 2021 by Arnab Sengupta, who possesses over 25 years of design experience working with numerous healthcare corporates.

Designovate Studio is a multidisciplinary design firm catering to numerous verticals, with a primary focus on the healthcare sector. Some of the major services that it provides include architecture design, interior design, medical planning, biomed planning & design, structural design, infrastructure planning and MEP services, to name a few. Going a step further, the company has also pioneered in implementing experiential spaces and wellness aspects such as spas & cafeterias into hospital architecture design, strongly cementing its position as futuristic design firm in the market.

“Always prioritizing customer satisfaction, we meet with the client, have multiple workshops with them to understand their overall business plan & the kind of efficiency they want to achieve, and accordingly formulate a design plan that ensures value for their money. Additionally, we utilize BIM and Revit for our designs so that clients can make any changes at later stages as well”, says Arnab Sengupta, Executive Director, Designovate Studio.
Keeping in mind the growing concerns around sustainability, Designovate Studio not only includes amenities such as EV charging points, solar energy panels and rainwater harvesting, but also sources its raw materials locally to reduce its carbon footprint and designs the structures to be zero discharge buildings by using recycled water for ACs & toilet flushing. Additionally, the company also strives to bring the smart hospital concept to the mainstream by integrating IoT to optimize resources and keep the energy consumption at bare minimum.

Reminiscing a case study which was both the first and most challenging project, Arnab elucidates, “Spread across almost 400,000 sq ft, the Star Hospital Hyderabad was a commercial building that was supposed to be converted into a hospital. We explored a new ‘BOX-IN-BOX” concept where two specialized hospitals operated in the same building. This was an extremely challenging assignment where we had to upgrade the existing building infrastructure, resize the lifts to accommodate the stretchers /beds, make multiple structural modifications, change MEP infrastructure to suit a hospital, create LINAC bunkers for oncology department in the basement, and re-sanction it into a healthcare building. Despite such herculean tasks, we managed to successfully deliver the project within just 14 months from concept to handover!”.

We Are Continuously Working To Bringing The Smart Hospital Concept Into The Mainstream By Leveraging Iot Technology To Optimize Resources, Enhance User Experience & Minimize Energy Consumption

Till date, Designovate Studio has garnered an elite clientele comprising of names such as Manipal Hospitals, Apollo Hospitals, AIG, Star Hospital, Care Hospital, Kasturba Hospital, Continental Hospital, Nova Medical Center, and Motherhood Hospital. Going forward, it plans to further expand its operations internationally by enhancing its capabilities to be par with multinational conglomerates, while also strengthening its pan India presence. Additionally, the company will also be exploring ways to digitize its design process to enhance its client experience, eyeing to position itself as the most sought-after healthcare architecture design firm in the country.
